Like Normal, water is a big category in the game, and one of my favorite categories in the game, so picking just 6 out of it proved to be quite challenging. There are A LOT of good water pokèmon in the game, and everyone has a favorite they work with. just remember like always this is my personal opinion. Also remember as stated in the previous post, legendaries are not allowed in these blog posts, it is just not fair.
So Without further adieu, my top 6(Ish) favorite Water Pokèmon
6:
Quaigsire: Its no secret in the game that water pokèmon really hate electric pokèmon. a good electric can rock the world of almost any water pokèmon. That was until Second gen introduced the concept of water/ground in the form of Quaigsire. I know following generations would also introduce their own versions of water ground, in starters or random tadpoles, But Quaigsire did it first. With that goofy expression on its face he had the ability to wreck carefully laid plans. I would bet that up until the invention of water/ground most players didn’t really think of having a good grass type, or even a pokèmon who knew ground on their team, Quaigsire changed how people developed their teams, at least how i developed my team. Its pretty impressive that any one Pokèmon can do that, so for that reason Quaigsire is on the list.

Vaporeon: I have made it no secret i am an eevee fan. I love all its evolutions and Vaporeon is no exception. this one is one of the better ones, with water and bite at its side, and unlike glaceon the ability to also learn ice moves makes vaporeon a must in any team eevee. VAporeon can also take a hit as well not to mention its a nice design for the critter. The most important thing about vaporeon is that it is an eevelution that’s what lands it on this list.

Squirtle family. : Like many Pokèmon fans, the early intro into the game came with a choice of three starters, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle. While I tend to be more of a Bulbasaur fan myself, i still carry a love for all of the original starters. This is probably the only generation i can say i played and loved all three. This is more then likely because my first Pokèmon game was Yellow. Yellow allowed the player to collect all three, so i got the chance to appreciate these individuals for their strength. While their fully evolve forms are obviously more powerful, its the first stage is often the stage i favor the most, still you cannot deny how impressive Squirtle becomes when he grows up.
3:
Sharpedo/ Wailord: Pokèmon added two great water types in Gen three, Wailord, a whale that has a massive amount hp and defense, and the speedy Sharpedo. Wailord has come in hand as a water HM user, i taught it surf, dive, waterfall and Wirlpool to get around, not only that the big guy also learns strength making him quite the useful one. But if i had to pick my favorite of the two its Sharpedo who really stole my heart, he is quick, can take a hit and has decent attack to him. I named my Jaws in the game and the two of us got along really well until i caught my Kyogre. sharpedo is just an awesome looking pokèmon, whose design makes him look really fierce. Wailord is just big, which is expected if your going to make a pokèmon that looks like a whale. my only complaint about Wailord is he looks more like a submarine or a torpedo then it probably should. I mean Sharpedo has torpedo in the name, and it looks less like a torpedo then Wailord does. Still these are both solid water Pokèmon and both should be acknowledged.
2
Mantyke and Mantine: This is not Mantine’s first time on one of my lists, Its just so loviable, It is Mantykes first time though. I just love this family, I know this pokèmon is now weak for electric and rock and ice but just look how cute it is. Ahem ok, this family i also think needs just one more evolution to work out a few of the kinks, its just a solid pokèmon and a decent water. Yes i know i can’t mount up a mantine and fly in the air with it but it is just a fun one to have on a team. The design on this guy is also well thought out, i mean look and Mantine’s design, it has gills along the side and a little Remoraid hanging off its wing, this is just well thought out representation of a real life stingray.

Lapras: this one should not be a surprise to anyone, This Pokèmon has been a part of teams for the better part of 16 years now. She is just a solid fighter, great stats and a great move pool. I think its also one that has aged well, “what do You mean by that?” You might be asking yourself. Well, In every generation they is always new Pokèmon, some displace older pokèmon, some games ruin stats others increase the Pokèmon stats to the point it is too powerful. Lapras has been reliable from red blue and yellow up until the most recent game X-2. This is a good pokèmon well deserving of the number one water spot.
