I Started my Journey in to the gaming world at a young age, when my father brought home our first computer. With that old Tandy IBM (Tandy a dos based computer, ancient ancestor to the windows we all know and love today) he introduced me and my brother into the world of video games and RPG’s with Games like Hero’s quest and Kings Quest.. for those of you are a little younger then I am. these were both text based RPG’s where you had to type out you commands. I have a lot of fond memories sitting with my dad and my brother around that old dos computer as we adventured together into a rich new worlds.
My Journey continues in the late 80’s early 90’s when my father again brought home a Sega Genesis the old 16 bit. Both me and my brother were aware of the Nintendo but because of my dad it was Sega that would set out course of our gaming path for years to come. With games like Sonic and Vectoman (which to my parents credit braved the long lines to get us one Christmas.) We again watched in awe of the worlds that these games created. I however unlike with the old Text based RPG’s found my skills severely lacking, only making passed the first couple of stages before I Succumbed to the dreaded game over. This would make me more of a casual observer then a real gamer for many years.
A change would soon come in the form of a playstation, with the first one released with more impressive colors, and better graphics i soon found enthralled with the system, however there was no real game i loved more on this system I loved more then Twisted Metal 2. I like previous games before it had a lot of trouble with this game…until i discovered the god code, they one that gave me unlimited weapons and become invincible to everything…but falling off a building. I call this game my zen game still, if i am having a rough day, week month or even a year i will plug in my PS2 and rip though a game just for the heck of it. With My PSOne a friend of mine introduced me to Final Fantasy VII which would lead to me loving the series…but my love for this series is only trumped by one other. I have played 4 (ds),7, 8, 10, 10-2, 12, 12-2. I had to stop at 12 because I am an adult now, making just enough money to survive to put 400 dollars down on a system for just one game system, i just cannot justify.
Around the same time with windows 95 and out newest windows computer i would discover new computer games like Betrayal in Antara and Torin’s passage. It would be these I would cement my love of RPGs.
Then something would change that would drastically change my gaming destiny…Pokèmon would be introduced to me and my brother with the Saturday morning cartoons. Soon I would be the first one of us to get their hands on a GameBoy Color and Pokèmon Yellow as a gift. thus changing me again, swinging my course away from the dying Sega into the path to Nintendo. I played that game for hours and was just as thrilled if not more thrilled with Gold and Silver (I picked silver) and later Crystal.
Pokèmon would be the reason behind many, of my handheld upgrades from Color, to gba, to ds to now 3ds. I found the handhelds to me a more affordble option for my lifestyle currently, Pokèmon i think turned me into a potable gamer. while with the Game Boy i Just played pokèmon, with the GBA i started to branch out more, playing titles such as Advance Wars and Golden Sun. Now with my 3ds (mostly ds games still) I have played and enjoyed such titles as Professor Layton, and Ace Attorney. I still play pokèmon and still get together with friends that also still enjoy the titles, but it has helped expand my horizons.
Well this is longer then I think anyone would read but that are my credentials as being a gamer. I Know what I like and always expanding my old gaming world.
If you ever have a question, always ask, I have learned in my life that while it often doesn’t come with walk thoughs, life does provide others with the answers.
