Sorry About the delay but my brother got married this weekend, so i have been distracted. So what is a wedding with out Flowers and flowers with out plants leading to this blogs topic…my top 6 Favorite grass Pokèmon.
Back in gen 1 there was only one pure grass Pokèmon, the annoying Tanglea, with the rest having poison in them. Now with X and Y looming Grass is now a pretty decent sized category, with more then a few pure Grass, and with some other neat mixes such as Flying, Ground and Rock.
As always this is my personal opinion, but if you have a different one i would love to hear it. Also again legendary will not be included in this list, they already have a top ten they don’t get to sneak in here! So before vines grow around this post, here is my top 6.
6:
Oddish Family: Look how Cute Oddish is, (Squee) I just can’t help it i love Oddish. <3. I guess you need a little more then that huh, Oddish and its family members (Glooms, Vileplume, and Bellosum) are sort of a odd bunch. While oddish is just flat our adoriable, Gloom, looks very drunk which could explain why he can evolve into two different forms, depending on rock it happens to be near. Vileplume if it fines gen I’s leaf stone, or Bellosum if it fines gen II’s Sun Stone. while i tend to favor Bellossum a little more then Vileplume i think they are both decent end forms. To prove my love for little oddish, two years ago at a anime convention near by, there was this young lady just finishing sowing a little stuffed oddish, instantly fell in love with it, and as soon as its little eyes were sown on, my money was on the table and it was in my hands. I just love this little family and love my little stuffed oddish. (

Leafeon: I hope you guys are getting buy now Eevees will be on this list and they do rule. I think the only one that hasn’t made the cut so far is poor Flareon. O well, on to Leafeon. This Eevelution, has earned its stripes learning a good mix of both grass as poison as well as the stand by Eevee move bite makes it quite the effective grass type. And if it was for the next four on the list it probably be a steady member of my teams. I also quite fond of this design, its is a nice look of the classic Eevee design with just hints of leaves and vines on it. I think it was a nice addition to the Eevee clan filling a missing gap within the line up. Now if your composing an team Eevee, you have Vaperon for water and ice, Leafeon for grass, Jolteon for electric and bug, Flareon for fire, Espeon for psychic and Umbreon for dark. Not that i don’t think even a decent team Eevee will struggle but at least now you can build a well rounded one. By The way, why its likely I am wrong about this but i suspect there will be two Eevelutions in x-y. in Gold and silver and pearl and diamond there have always been two Eevee’s released. i would not be surprised to find a second secret one released with Sylveon.
4:
Chikorita Family: As Most of you have probably guess at this point i am a big fan of Gen II, This was the first generation i actually got to pick my starter on, with the gen before i picked yellow so all three were given to me. looking back now gen II’s starters now are about average, pure bloods of each type. I am not sure why I picked Chikorita, i think part of it was i was still heavily watching the pokèmon show at the time. I must admit it was a struggle with poor Chickorita espeically with the first couple of gyms, but as she grew i think i did too. Learning to relay one her when it came to catching other. Chikorita later game proved to be quite the effective tank, helping me out when i needed to heal up other team members. Although i did end up boxing her before the elite four I will always remember her fondly as being a great tank in a time of need.

Serperior’s Family: I went into Black and White with no walk though and no previous knowledge of what this game was going to be like. So when it came time to choose my starter I went the path I normally take, being fairly unpressed by the fire or water starters. I was a little surprised when it hit its final stage and became a snake, making this Pokèmons third entry that is modeled after the snake. Being a Snake i think gave Serperior speed, making it one of the faster grass types. It does learn the basic grass move set but also picks up some of Posions move sets. I must say this is one of the grass starters i was presently surprised by, even though its a pure bred grass type it still pulled me though until the end. and yessss she did pull me though the end, unlike some other grass starters i have used in the passed, this one was never boxed. I was really impressssed by this one. So it wasss and Eassy pick for number three.
2:
Torterra family: I beginning to notice a love for turtles in my lists. I was in college when Pearl and Diamond were released. I remember waking up in my dorm room, getting dressed and carefully sneaking out of my dorm room so not to wake up my roommate to pick up my copy of Pearl. I did pick up my walk though and studied the starters briefly, after coming off of gen III and my fire pick, i could go anywhere. It was cute little Turtwig that grounded me back to grass. (Get it, Heh) The fact it grew a tree on its back on its final form and gained ground as a typing intrigued me. This family never let me down, constantly getting me out of trouble, taking hits for me when the rest of the team needed to be healed Torterra proved its worth to me, so much so it is now officially in my top ten. The only grass type to make it to that precious list, and its because of the duel typing does it land there. The ability to learn ground/ rock/ grass and posion moves can make Torterra a deadly combo fighter and my beloved grass type on the other.
So who beats out Torterra for me, the original the one and only.
1:
Bulbsaur: They say you never forget your first love, i think that phrase apple’s to almost everything in life you love first. Your first pet, your first kiss, or in this case your first starter. As i have stated repeatedly over the last few posts, Yellow was my first game, so my first starter was Pikachu (he is coming.) But bulbasaur was the first of the three starters i truly used. He is handy to have in the first three gyms, (rock, water, electric) and is a tank when needed as well. I really don’t care much about its evolutions and I am a little miffed by his mega evolution (charizard is a dragon, and blastoise gets a freaking cannons and what does Venasaur get and extra flower! COME ON!!) ahem. I must admit there was a point in time they i forgot how much i like bulbasaur until the recent X-Y announcements. I knew going into this week i would probably end up picking Chespin, with Torchic being downloaded as well, putting me at a grass and a fire to start the game. Then they announced you could pick one of the original Kanto (gen I) starters. The logical side of my brain said cool lets get squirtle and we will be rounded out…then something odd happened i didn’t quite expect, something i will probably be battling with until the Saturday I pick up and start the game. I started to think about bulbsaur and how much i missed playing with him, and now with my new appreciation of Poison i wonder how much better he is. My heart is telling me to pick Bulbsaur and little Chespin, or Fennekin. I think my team will be unbalanced either way, but it was that surprising thump of excitment of seeing my bulbsaur back. They say you never forget your first love, and for me Pokèmon number 1, is my number 1 favorite Grass type.
Wow i guess i put all the grass starters on the list except for Treeko or well. We are just days away from Pokèmon X-Y, are you as excited as i am?
As always leave comments down below.
Rapidash: There are surprisingly very few Pokèmon out their that are designed like a horse, (and like a bazillion, dog and cat ones). On top of that i also think that Rapidash is one of the more unappreciated Fire Pokèmon in the game. It is to bad too because this one is pretty darn fast, and my wish with Pokèmon X-Y with that ability to ride pokèmon you will see this speedy fire horse used a lot more. (i mean come on why does the goat get ridden first!!!) I think this one as much as i like Arcinine is my favorite gen 1 Fire, while its only two evolutions, you do have to spend time with it to get it to evolve. Its fast, and it learns Bounce now which is pretty annoying if your on the receiving end, but effective. My Hope is that Repidash gets a little more attention in the upcoming game and maybe even a third evolution or even a mega evolution, who knows that the future hold for this guy, but I can always see Rapidash as one of my favorites.
Abra Family: As much of pain in the butt it is to catch Abra, it and its family make pretty good Pokèmon, and a great start as an intro into the type. Those of you who had one traded to you or won one, never knew the pain of trying to catch one of these suckers. When you first meet this family in the first gen Abra only really knows Teleport, and that is what it does. It see’s you and runs, so you only hope is to be fast enough to put it to sleep, and throw a pokèball at it, or just though the ball at it and hope for the best. However once you catch him make room for him in your team, because its a good a fast Psychic. Two things work against it now a days for me. One its kind of annoying to evolve, you need it to be kadabra and you need to trade it to a friend, (although modern technology such as wi-fi makes this far less of a hassle) Two it is sort of out classed now by some of the newer Psychic’s out there. Still it has to be acknowledged as being one of the first.
Metagross family: I think this family took its cues from Abra’s, It fools you at first thinking its not going to be much of a Pokèmon, then it evolves, then it Evolves again until it is Metagross. Now he has been featured as one of my Top Pokèmon before, but he deserves a place on this list as well. Its Steel nature helps him take some hits, but sadly his world can be ruined by a good ground move. That is why giving him Magnate rise is so vitally important. This is also another good Gen Three Pokèmon and the reason my Gardevoir finally got boxed in the game. The only sad thing is you cannot pick him up until after you defeat the elite four the first time, which is too bad because he is a high level evolver you want on your team!
Sharpedo/ Wailord: Pokèmon added two great water types in Gen three, Wailord, a whale that has a massive amount hp and defense, and the speedy Sharpedo. Wailord has come in hand as a water HM user, i taught it surf, dive, waterfall and Wirlpool to get around, not only that the big guy also learns strength making him quite the useful one. But if i had to pick my favorite of the two its Sharpedo who really stole my heart, he is quick, can take a hit and has decent attack to him. I named my Jaws in the game and the two of us got along really well until i caught my Kyogre. sharpedo is just an awesome looking pokèmon, whose design makes him look really fierce. Wailord is just big, which is expected if your going to make a pokèmon that looks like a whale. my only complaint about Wailord is he looks more like a submarine or a torpedo then it probably should. I mean Sharpedo has torpedo in the name, and it looks less like a torpedo then Wailord does. Still these are both solid water Pokèmon and both should be acknowledged.
Mantyke and Mantine: This is not Mantine’s first time on one of my lists, Its just so loviable, It is Mantykes first time though. I just love this family, I know this pokèmon is now weak for electric and rock and ice but just look how cute it is. Ahem ok, this family i also think needs just one more evolution to work out a few of the kinks, its just a solid pokèmon and a decent water. Yes i know i can’t mount up a mantine and fly in the air with it but it is just a fun one to have on a team. The design on this guy is also well thought out, i mean look and Mantine’s design, it has gills along the side and a little Remoraid hanging off its wing, this is just well thought out representation of a real life stingray.
Ho-oh: For a lot of people who were exposed to the animè first this is the first legendary most of us see. Flying off into the distance and Ash’s pokèdex declaring it as and unknown and that there are still many thinks unknown to us. Its a definition of life really isn’t it, there are are a lot of mysteries out there that we just do not know about. Ho-oh its self isn’t a terrible legendary, its just not one of my favorites, and i tend to not really go that much for fire anyways, but given what it helped create and it being part of admittedly my favorite generation. Ho-oh deserves a place here on my list.
Giratina: Like Rayquaza before it, this one really didn’t get the love it deserved until the third instalment of the forth generation: Ghost/ Dragon seems to me like a weird mix, and by golly is Giratina a little weird looking, and almost in some ways a little terrifying. it of course is not easy to get but at least its not roaming, and i can honestly say i prefer the upgrade it got in platinum. I think it is a solid pokèmon and well worth a spot on my team, if only sadly he wasn’t uber then he would be there along with some of my others.
Latias: Boy was this little guy a pain in the Arse to catch, but well worth it once i had her in my team. Seeing how i played Sapphire and then Emerald i never really got my hands on latios until recently in Black 2 i was kinda of thrilled to run into it because i never has tios before. But sadly for Latios it was to late, Latias (named trouble after all the trouble it caused me trying to catch it,) had already been together for almost ten years. Plus i tend to admittedly favor having female Pokèmon on my team, So this troublesome to catch pokèmon has landed on my favorites list.
Entei, Raikou and Suicune: There is just something amazing about these three that is just aw inspiring to me. their story, three pokèmon killed when a tower burned down, brought back to life my Ho-oh only now to roam though johto. I have made it no secret i am not overly fond of chasing pokèmon around to catch them…but for these three and Latias i will give the time in for. the are in each right a Good pokèmon, Solid stats and in a good chunk of games. I really grew to appreciate them with Pokèmon XD when you got to “Steal” all three of them from bad trainers, It was then i really got too see them shine. if i where to really complain about them it would be for poor Raikou. Entei got a whole movie, Suicune got a crystal, and what did Raikou get bumpkins…poor little guy. Raikou was the first of the legendary beast i caught in silver and I guess has been a favorite of mine since then. Still its hard to to appreciate all of them.
Kyogre: This is the water pokèmon that for a time actually took Lapras place on my team. Oh my god Right? It learns everything Lapras does, but instead of loosing a spot in my move set for rain dance this one knew drizzle making thunder a 100% accurate. making this pokèmon mighty dangerous to a lot of other Mon’s out there. If you think about it really, Kyogre is the best on out of gen threes legendary pile anyways, taking out Groudon and Rayquaza, a good chunk of the regis and even latia, and latios making this one top dog in Gen 3. I love her design and i am not just saying it because sapphire is my birthstone. This is one bad big whale and it knows it.

I filled my time in those two years with games on the android, from Mystery of the Crystal to angry birds, to most recently Simpsons Tapped out. AAA Homer i hope you never stop entertaining me. My android cell phone became a companion to me but it alone could not fill the void.
(2011-present) I also explored the world of MMRPG’s, being too cheap to afford something like World of Warcraft I look for Free to Play options, it was suggested to me to try Lord of the Rings Online even though i had never read the books or seen the movies. i was told i would be fine..and you know what i was. I went into the the journey online looking for new friends and a new world to explore and i got both. I have been playing happily now for almost 3 years now on the riddermark server. At the beginning of this month the kin i helped found celebrated its second year of being together. I do love the people i play with and admittedly i now pay for the game, i still found myself missing something. After three years of exploring middle earth i found myself dreaming of my ds again.

Absol: , I know this is a hugely popular pokèmon, and its easy to see why, with a sleek design and the soon to be potential mega evolution its a great pokèmon. However lets face facts people, since the introduction of dark pokèmon in the second generation this has become a decent size category with a lot of different dark types to choose from. For me having one pokèmon that’s purely dedicated to dark, just doesn’t make sense to me in my team. Doesn’t mean i do not appreciate the creature and its design and concept. I do look forward to what becomes of it in the future, this is a pokèmon I would love to see another step to besides mega.
Surskit: This one is just adorable as a child who spent most of her time admiring the bug world, the bugs that glided along the water were always interesting to me. While i am not terribly fond of its evolution, i do love the design and concept of the little glider. Admit it, there are a few of you out there who just a tad bit disappointed at its stats. It just wasn’t built for battle but as especially the third gen pointed out there can be more to the game then just fighting.
Magnemite: This guys suffers from the same fate as poor Absol, there are just too many better options out there to make picking it just not a smart move. I however have fondness for this guy, being one of the only pokèmon I can successfully draw and it still look like original pokèmon. Believe when i say i really don’t have many drawing skills, But if on occasion you find a little sketch of this little guy.
Natu: Poor Natu, there are just so many bird pokèmon out there, that are just so much better then this little cutie. On top of that it happened to come out in the same generation as the games Ultimate Psychic Flyer Lugia. Thus making this pokèmon pretty easy to ignore. But I have always loved its design and colors, admittedly always found it a little cute too. Its a shame really it couldn’t be better in battle.
Kecleon: This one for me isn’t on here for its design, so much so as its creativity. for those of you not familer with this guy, he comes with the ability Color change, that when hit with an attack changes its type over to the type of the attack it was just hit with. For instance say i hit it with a fighting move, it then switches over to a fighting type, Because of this however i had great fun taking it out, using the change to my advantage. I still have to admire the thought that went into him. That is why he is an easy pick for my top 10.
Joltik: Man is this little guy a little cutie, I just love the concept and design of him, as you might be starting to pick up I love bugs, and loved running into him. This one also has the added bonus of scaring the crap out my other friends who are not quite as fond of spiders and bugs as i am. It is just too bad that like so many before it there are just better bugs, and eletric pokèmon out there otherwise you better believe this would be on my team. Sorry cutie I just don’t want you to get beaten up.
Yanma and Yanmega: I love Dragonfly’s ever since I was a little girl i would catch and release them. In fact as i am typing this i am wearing a dragonfly necklace around my neck. Imagine my my utter delight to see Yanma (then later generations its evolution.) Then imagine my utter disappointment at its stats…its just to weak to be competitive in any arena. While its new evolution improve things slightly, it still was just a disaster on the field. However it will continue to get my love as being pokèmon’s only tribute to dragonfly’s.
Mantine: I love this pokèmon, and if it wasn’t for Lapras there is a strong chance this one could end up on my team. I love the fact they made a stingray pokèmon, what i love even more was adding the little remoraid to its wing. This is a great example i think of the creators of the games concept and design follow thru. This pokèmon is well designed and well thought out. Even the eventual addition of Mantyke stayed true to Mantines good design. What keeps this little guys off the team is its duel weakness to electric which is just to bad because it has nice balanced stats. Don’t worry little one I still love you.
Krabby: This water pokèmon stole my heart in the anime and i continue to love it. The picture of it here is actually my favorite picture of it, i mean who amongst us are not that happy having our favorite treat in our hands. Krabby falls under the same trap as so many others on this list, just too many better options to make using him plausible. As you have noticed probably, i love my water types and i love my bug types and honestly crabby is a bugish water pokèmon. Admit it crabs look like bugs too. Seeing how this little guy was probably the first of my the pokèmon i really loved but just couldn’t not find a place for it seems fitting he should take the crown.
Miltank: I know Miltank was created to be a female version of Tauros…so why does it look…so disturbing. On top of that if your going to make a male and female version of something you need to either A: Have a pre-evolution for the two that makes having male and female make sense, or B make a joined final formation. This doesn’t give other and to be honest brings down poor Tauros just a little for being associated with this. On top of that, lets talk briefly about players first encounter with Miltank, and that is Whitney in as far as i can remember (and i can have a bit of a short memory) the only real normal gym. Her Miltank was was a difficult beast, flattening a good many of my Pokèmon, but if it wasn’t for that Miltank and the other two starting gyms my appreciation for Geodude would have never grown…so I guess I ought to thank that cow…
Durant: My hatred for this pokèmon actually doesn’t really have much to with the critter itself, I am actually quite terrified of ants. Yup that’s right I like most bugs, and even spiders don’t bother me, (I actually have a small soft spot for Spinarak and Joltik) But i just cannot do ants in any form. I think it goes back to when i was little and attacked by a swarm of fire ants *Shudders*. So I don’t care how good this pokèmon is or isn’t, you will never see it in my team. It is going into the box as far away from me as humanly possibly. *gets out her Blazikin for protection*
Cofagrigus: There is something very wrong about a pokèmon in the shape of a coffin, I know it made sense to someone out there, but for me having a floating living casket just does not seem right. It is also a pain in the behind to take out. When first encountering it in the Elite four there is a small huh..that’s a bit weird oh well lets just kill it. *twenty minutes pass* how the heck did that just take out half my team? You think by now i would learn not to underestimate elite four pokèmon…sadly its a lesson I have yet to learn.
Mesprit, Uxie and Azelf: God do I hate these three. I have never been a big fan of the roaming pokèmon, I prefer them to just sit still and do into the ball, but i hate it even more when there roaming and useless. Pearl and Diamond had about four different roaming pokèmon in the game Cresselia and these three obnoxious roaming morons. Yes I know gold and silver had started the roaming, but at least they are useful in combat. So were Latios, and Latias but these guys. When I caught the three I subsequently named them Pain, In The, Ass. and threw them into my box to sit and sit.
Jynx: I have never really been fond of human shaped pokèmon, Mr. Mime, Magmar, and Electabuzz just never did it for me, but i never hated them, I just didn’t really like them. So what did Jynx do to piss me off so very much. My first pokèmon game that i played was Yellow, so my partner pokèmon was Pikachu, my very first run at the Elite Four I watched my beloved little electric rat repeatably get taken down by this ugly horrible pokèmon, not only that I watched it take out my Zapdos, my Dugtrio even Lapras go down to it. Admittedly I know a little better now to send those types in against an ice type now, but yellow was my first pokèmon game and Jynx was standing between me and my final victory. I have never forgiven this pokèmon for those early defeats, and I probably never will. So say hello to the ice box Jynx because you are not moving any where for a long…long time.
The Regi’s: Just looking at these four makes my blood boil, the amount of time put in to catching these horrible bastards…ok. *takes a second to breathe.* You might be asking yourself, how could you possibly hate these guys, there legendary pokèmon. I have been playing this game for years now so i know pokèmon I like and ones i don’t. I cannot tell you the amount of hours I spent trying to catch these rotten pokèmon, they would have 1 hp be paralyzed have 0 accuracy due to me flashing the crap out of them and they still would not go in to the freaking ball, and all four of them were like this. I would go though countless timer, dusk, and ultra balls trying to get them to go in. I would be sitting there an hour after I should be in bed begging with them to just go into to the pokèball and they still refused. When i learned recently i would have to recatch these horribly stubborn pokèmon again in black 2, I think I started to cry a little bit. I don’t think there is any other pokèmon out there on this list that makes my blood boil with the passion of a thousand red suns then four guys. I can’t tell you the small joy i get in taking these suckers out with one of my Top 10. So Regi’s go into the box and think about what you have done!
