Gamerwoman moving

When I created Gamerwoman back in 2013, I really didn’t have many plans for my future. I knew I loved writing and video games. I also knew I was an adult with real-life responsibilities and didn’t always have time to play games, I also didn’t have anyone around me to talk about my favorite things as much as I used to.

Then August 2014 happened, I fought a wall and lost. (Fell up the stairs and fell headfirst into a cement wall) I started to have trouble concentrating and focusing and while I recovered keeping up on Gamerwoman became less and less of a priority as I tried to piece my own life back together. For 6 years I have been trying to find my way, and now ready to step forward with not just Gamerwoman, but other writing projects I have been working on for a while.

To really give myself the best chance I need to succeed I am moving Gamerwoman along with other blogs and projects over to one central site on Squarespace. With this new change, comes a change to Gamerwoman itself. Firstly I plan on expanding Gamerwoman’s scope to TV and Movie reviews as well.  Something I have always wanted to do but didn’t have time to do.

Along with Gamerwoman moving to Lynseyu’s Corner, I will also have several other projects available on the site. Random Thoughts, Is where other none media topics will be. From my recovery from my Concussion to anything that is on my mind. You will also find poems there as well.  Gamerwoman will be broken down into reviews, top whatever lists to beyond the game where tv and movie reviews will be up. Arya’s corner is where my photo gallery will be. Arya the Black cat who has a page on Facebook has been around for about 6 years, I am now adding her content to my site as wells as other pet pictures, Nature pictures, bug photos, wildlife, and a random category.  The final section that won’t be available at launch will be the stories category where I will be putting both short stories, and big writing projects I have been working on over the years. It will be 5 dollars a month for now. Of course, there will also be an about page to find out a little bit about me, because what website doesn’t include one.  I am also working with Patreon as well.

Follow the link below to my new home, Upon launch, I will have a new article up in each section except for Stores. I will let you all know when something new it up…For those who have followed me and been following me all this time thank you. Your support has meant the world to me, I hope to earn your continued support with this new move.

Seek…the real life pokedex

As someone who grew up as a Star Trek and Pokemon fan, I have longed to have had something like a Pokédex or a Tricorder in my pocket. Something I can use to take a photo of something in nature, like a mushroom or a bug, and a piece of technology would be able to identify what the item is. As smartphones started to grow smarter and smarter I waited until the day someone built an app for that.

Well, I am happy to report that someone did and the App I am talking about is Seek by iNaturalist. iNatualist started as a Masters program by Nate Agrin, Jessica Kline, and Ken-Ichi Ueda for UC Berkeley, in 2008 (About · iNaturalist ) It grew with some additional help from Sean McGregor and Scott Loarie and grew into an LLC (Limited Liability Company). From there it joined forces with the California Academy of Sciences and National Geographic.  Its core though, what makes iNaturalist tick is the community surrounding it, learning from one another, observing and teaching each other about the amazing world surrounding us.

iNatualist, while an App in itself that helps you connect to the community to help you identify that critter, it is its sister app Seek that is in my humble opinion the star in this show. Seek does almost everything a real-life Pokedex should. I take a picture or stand in front of what I want to identify until all seven little dots light up, and there! You now know what is staring back at you. It is an app I highly recommend to all thoughts who want to learn about the wonderful world surrounding you.

Pros:

  • Identifies bugs, plants, animals, fungi, and other such creatures.
  • You get fun little badges when you find so many critters.
  • It is user friendly.
  • It sets weekly goals to get special badges…but is not overly aggressive about it.
  • It will id things off of camera rolls as well. (If you have a backlog of spider pictures like I do that need identifying.)
  • It stores your previously found items for quick recall.
  • It has community resources you can access on another app if the camera cannot ID what you are looking at.

Cons:

  • It can take a few minutes to ID things; this could be a problem on subjects that move. Cumbersome on plants when you’re trying to defeat a shadow.
  • When it comes to plants, animals or bugs that could be potentially hazardous to a human’s health there is no warning that pops up. Ideally, I would like to see this on mushrooms, or poison ivy.
  • It can be a bit fussy about pictures in camera rolls and has misidentified a few things in older photos.
  • It doesn’t allow you to change your location. I put a butterfly I took a picture of in Florida in the app, and it wouldn’t let me switch the location from where I was currently sitting in Upstate New York to Florida…so that could mess up ranges of critters if the information being gathered is going into a community collection.

Seek is a wonderful little app, that is available on both IOS and Android, and can be a great gateway for both adults and kids to get to know the world around them just a little bit more.

Reaction: Hoenn Confirmed!

Like most Pokèmon fans i was very excited when Nintendo announced the Rereleased later this year, i was excited. Like many there are more questions then answers circling around.  So i am going to ask a few of them outloud.

1: Will double bikes be back (mach and acro)?

2: Will they stremline the berries like they did in x-y?

3: Will the contests be back?

4: will the fix the issues of the original ruby and sapphire (i.e restore the day night function.)

5: will it share x-y’s graphics?

6: Will out characters be customizable here as well….imagine being able to enter a contest with both you and your pokemon dressed up

7: Will they bring back the following pokemon featured in soul silver and heart gold.

8: What will they add to the game in terms of lands, will we some sinnoh in here as well? maybe another trip back to kanto and johto.

9; Will we see more pokemon become fairy’s

10: Why have they trade marked delta emerald?

11: Who else get a mega form?

those are my questions will we see answers at the upcoming e3? Only time will tell

My top 6 Favorite Dragon Pokèmon.

Creating a top 6 now with new pokèmon out their is hard, since there are already some in the new generation that stand out to me, but what i have  come to enjoy about this game is there is such a good balance of old with new i get to explore old favorites for the first time again, or for the first time ever get to know an old pokèmon i have never used in the past.  Better yet it gives me a chance to consciously make a choice to try something new. From Poison on those lists will be influenced by the current game, as i am typing this alterations to my list have occurred and once i have the basics done, i might be going back and changing guys out.

Like Always legendary will not be allowed in this category, and i know there are a lot of dragon types out their. I also want to state where i currently in x-y i have not run into or playing with any new gen dragons so they will not be on the list yet.

6:  https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/b/bb/TrapinchVibravaFlygon.png/200px-TrapinchVibravaFlygon.png    Flygon Family:  I was pretty happy to see this almost forgotten dragon back in X-Y, gen three was just loaded with dragon pokèmon, and i have three of them on this list, so i am a fan of them. This one had an interesting design and honestly looks more bug like then dragon, i think its a serious play of the term dragonfly. This little guy starts off as a rock ground mouth then grows up into a ground dragon that learns fly. Woot, this protects it from electric types that the dragon species can be vulnerable to with flying type with it. its move set is nice but limited compaired to some of the others. I am still a big fan of this guy and would happily put it on my team any day.

5:          https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/c/cc/147Dratini.png/170px-147Dratini.png        https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/9/93/148Dragonair.png/210px-148Dragonair.png https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/8/8b/149Dragonite.png/190px-149Dragonite.pngDragonite Family: Before their was a Garchomp, or salamence, before Rayquaza was even a thought there was Dragoinite, This is the first family of dragon’s in pokèmon, yes i know charizard and Gyarados look like dragons, but they have never been true dragon types (And mega does not count because is a temp boost in power!) If i remember correctly Dratini was in the safari zone, you either had to fish or surf for it and it had like a 5% show up rate. IT was a tough guy to find but paid off in the end. This one also marks the first of the high level leveling finishing up at 55, seems like nothing now with Hydreigon finishing up at 65! I have to acknowledge this family, and while it looks a little goofy it is still the first family of dragons.

4: https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/6/68/443Gible.png/200px-443Gible.png          https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/9/9d/444Gabite.png/200px-444Gabite.png      https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/f/fa/445Garchomp.png/250px-445Garchomp.png Garchomp: This is a recent addition to my list knocking kingdra off,  This is a critter then in the past i have never used, or by the time i found it i already had my pick for a dragon type. This gen I ran into its baby form pretty early game standard wise, right before the 5th gym. Its typing with ground was and still is a needed type in my current party. What I love more is it evolves soooo much faster then some other members of the family. (I am looking at you Hydreigon!) So you can have a tough useable dragon by the time your in your 50’s. I will be interested in seeing how this guy continues to fair, we still have to go though the elite four together and one more gym but so far i am impressed.

3:  https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/9/99/333Swablu.png/170px-333Swablu.png   https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/d/da/334Altaria.pngAltaria: Design wise this one is my favorite of all the dragons, she is just so pretty and the little clouds wrapped around her are wings i just see he i thing of serenity. To bad for me like most dragons she can also be a vicious power house! It learns dragon and flying best moves naturally, and has a nice set of moves it can learn naturally making her unpredictable and powerful. While i am not over the moon about her per-evolution it certainly gives off the cute innocent look well enough to not know you maybe in a world of trouble very soon.  Beautiful and deadly…a nice combo if i don’t say so myself

2:            https://i0.wp.com/images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110430160609/pokemon/images/d/d2/371Bagon.png           https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/a/a5/372Shelgon.png/160px-372Shelgon.png https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/4/41/373Salamence.png/240px-373Salamence.pngSalamence: For the longest time this was my top favorite dragon, and still my favorite of the gen three gang, and it was its dex entry as bagon that initally  caught my attention, that it dreams of being able to fly. Wow big drams for such a little guy, even more impressive when it evolves at 50 it naturally learns fly. It is very impressive to me when any Pokèmon naturally learn an HM move. Not only that it does again have a good natural move selection, and a teachable move selection, and he is tough as well. I named the first one i ever caught Sky Dreamer and its still with me after all these years. This is a good dragon that one should not mess with.

1:   https://i0.wp.com/images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120324063006/pokemon/images/e/e0/Monozu.png          https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/a/a6/634Zweilous.png/250px-634Zweilous.png      https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/3/3e/635Hydreigon.png/250px-635Hydreigon.png Hydreigon: You cannot spend 64 levels with any Pokèmon without getting a little attached. I first met Deino in Pokèmon black, near the end of the game. I knew before the game ended i had Black 2 waiting in the wings, i decided to to breed Deino with a ditto and teach it a fire move to help out and ship it over to black 2 at the start of my game journey there. The little guy grew and started to learn some interesting moves, that coupled with its typing made this guy a valuable member of my team. This guy is a Dark Dragon, still makes it an open target for the fairies and ice types of the world. If i had any gripes about this guy it would be it takes forever to hit its final level. It doesn’t even hit its first evolution until 50, so your stuck with the weaker deino for quite a while, but stick with it because yes this guy pays off in the end, and train him right he might even put up a serious fight against your ice types and faeries.

So their you have it my top 6 favorite dragons, and yes this is one of my favorite types in the game.

let me know what you think in the comments down below.

Top 6 Normal type pokèmon

the next few post baring something random i want to put up will have my six top favorite pokèmon of each type. You maybe asking yourself why 6. Well here are my reasoning. some Categories like normal and water have a ton of different pokèmon in it. while other categories like Fighting and ghost are relatively small categories. Six seemed like a nice even number that i could pick that allowed some of my favorites to get in, and highlight what i believe to also be exceptional members of the type.

Now some ground rules for this. Legendary pokèmon, ones that you only get one shot at, and cannot breed will not be considered. they just got their own post, also since most legendaries are the top of their class it is not fair to the other regular pokèmon to be compared to them.

do not be surprised to see repeats in some of the categories since a good chunk of pokèmon are duel type. The only category duel typing was not allowed was normal/ flying because almost half the bird pokèmon out there are that type.

Each Type will have its own post, because otherwise this blog post will be far to long.

Like always this is my personal opinion, but i welcome you to write your favorites down below.

Without Further adieu, my top 6 favorite normal.

6: https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/81/161.png   https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/4/43/Spr_5b_162.png  https://i0.wp.com/img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/zigzagoon.png https://i0.wp.com/img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/linoone.png  Furret and Linoone: the Game is notorious for giving players a decent starting normal with in the first couple of areas you venture out in. What makes these starting normals so great is often the fact they evolve rather quickly, They learn a good chunk of HM moves, and there stats are decent enough to help you out in the first couple of gyms. Sentret and Zigzagoon are the ideal starting normal pokèmon the wide variety of moves they learn make them awesome little Swiss army knives as i often called them. Lanoone will even pick up surf later on if you don’t have a water pokèmon handy. While as you progress you will find better pokèmon to battle with, for early game pokèmon these two and there early evolutions have to be acknowledged for helping you out in a tough scrap.

5: https://i0.wp.com/oyster.ignimgs.com/mediawiki/apis.ign.com/pokemon-blue-version/d/dd/Ditto.gif  Ditto: Now i have mentioned this little guy before, in my top ten Pokèmon i would never use in battle. So I will keep this brief, What makes ditto special is its ability to breed with just about anything except legendaries. To have that ability opens up a lot of doors in game, you can breed fully evolved pokèmon to said over to a friend, or say you catch the fully evolved version of something late in the game and you need its starting form for a dex entry, well give it to Ditto. Ditto is very useful in the world of breeding and no other pokèmon can match what he or she does for the player. Ditto can be hard to find, but he is always worth the catch.

4: https://i0.wp.com/static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/506-507-508_4168.png Snoutland family: This is another early game normal pokèmon you can catch. Unlike Linoone and Furret as this one grows up he can become a powerful addition to your team. His stats are great and like most normal pokèmon he has a great pool of moves he can use. For me the ability to learn Crunch one of Dark’s most powerful moves sets him apart. This along with the different amount of moves he can learn coupled with a decent HP mark made him a great pokèmon to play though black with. He was one Early normal i can say did not go into the box, he was not really outclassed by many normal pokèmon found in that game and that is what lands him and his family in my top 6.

3: https://i0.wp.com/cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/e/e2/133Eevee.png/180px-133Eevee.png Eevee: Oh Eevee, honestly one of my favorite pokèmon in the game. This little ball of fluff just has so much potential to it, the ability to evolve into almost any different types with 8 solid evolutions and I am almost positive more to come; having an eevee in game is almost mandatory at this point. There is something just so likable about this pokèmon besides its ability to evolve it like most normals has a good chunk of moves it can learn on its own, or though TM. Probably its most valuable move is bite, that dark move, learning it as an eevee then transferring it to its evolutions makes eevee a threat to most psychic pokèmon out there, especially if it moves to Espeon.  their is no doubt in my mind Eevee is a special pokèmon that deserves its place here on this list.

2 https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/JCAxYkb.png Blissey family: I actually not a big fan of pink pokèmon, jiggly is ok, and i hate cliffary, so why is Blissey spared, Because it is a good pokèmon. Besides being a pain in the ares to evolve (you try finding a shiny stone in black 2!)  This is a very good pokèmon. Like most normals it learns a wide verity of moves, which lets face it, makes most normal’s unpredictable in battle. it has solid HP numbers making this family a great tank. Sometimes, when you in the elite four you at that final pokèmon and your team is exhausted or dead, throwing a good tank out their to give you a chance to heal up the rest of your team can be invaluable. i am glad that over the years this family has grown a bit, because this is a good family to have on your side.

1: https://i0.wp.com/www.dltk-kids.com/pokemon/adoptions/143.gif  Snorlax: Having a tank in this game can be invaluable, having a tank in this game that can also inflict a world of hurt on to your opponent is just an added bonus. Snorlax is that triple combo of HP Defense and Attack that just makes him a great Normal pokèmon. With the wide verity of moves that is the vary nature of normal pokèmon and natural moves it can also learn it makes him crazy unpredictable as well. my favorite moment with this pokèmon is when he use metronome and flew into the air in stadium. he was up against a very tiny pikachu i can only imagine what would go though that Pokèmon’s mind seeing a giant snorlax flying into the air. I am also a big fan of his design, he just always looks so happy to be there. Snorlax is just a great Pokèmon and often and invaluable member of my team. I would love to see if he gets a Mega evolution in the upcoming games, but part of me is just happy to see him as is, because in my eyes he is just perfect the way he is.

So that concludes this list of my top 6 normal pokèmon, next up Water.

my top 15 favorite non pokèmon games

I know i said in the previous post this would only be ten, but as i began to write out my favorite games the list grew quite long. filled with both nostalgic memories and fun days playing them.

So what makes the following games my favorites, several factors actually, nostalgia, repeatability (would i go back and play the game again.) Enjoyment and finally because i loved it damn it.

First a few honorable mentions: these our games i enjoyed but never completed on my own, because i didn’t have the skills or i can be a dumb ass some days when it comes to games.

Grand Theft Auto 4: Vice City. I loved the music in the game and watching my brother play it. i would do the taxi missions for him, steal a cab and run around the city listing to the emotion channel, i still have a lot of the music on my iPod. I however never played any of the real missions so i cannot count it.

Sonic (all) is another game i watched my brother play. however when it came to me actually playing sonic spent a lot of time dead. So while the game holds memories with my sibling not much else does it hold. And my last honorable mention

Ghostbusters (Sega gen) another game i enjoyed watching, but was never really sucessful playing myself. maybe today i would it has a lot of the elements i enjoy now but back then it was not a game I could complete, i did enjoy watching it though.

now for the top 15

15 https://i0.wp.com/images.wikia.com/fireemblem/images/9/9c/Party_Star.PNGMario party and https://i0.wp.com/boourns.dynu.net/pics/Smash_Bros__Logo_wallpaper_by_Kinan.jpg  Smash brothers: To me these games are all equal, i enjoy the community aspect of these games, gathering at my friends house and playing a couple of hours of these games with them. I have to admit right now, i am generally not a Mario (or peach) fan. So you will never see me pick him but that being said i do enjoy these games and the hours of entertainment they will give me.

14: https://i0.wp.com/pics.mobygames.com/images/covers/large/1022523327-00.jpg Torin’s Passage: This came to in my life as a free game with our new Aptevia years ago. i played all the free games that came with it, but i had a particular love for this one. i found the story engaging with a twist ending. Playing though it was challenging but rewarding. I did go back a couple of times to play this game and enjoyed it every time, making it honored part of my past.

13: https://i0.wp.com/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2b/King%27s_Quest_IV_-_The_Perils_of_Rosella_Coverart.jpg Kings Quest IV: This would be the only title in the king’s quest series my family would play. I started off watching my dad play this and in later years i would give it a go myself. It would be the first game and possibly only game on my list that had a female as the main character. I loved the story, (and hated that stupid whale) this would be one of two original games. it would be this one and number 11 that would start my gaming Journey.

12: https://i0.wp.com/www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/7861-betrayal-in-antara-windows-screenshot-screen-titles.gif Betrayal in Antara: I Loved, loved, loved this game. This one i think would solidify my love or RPG’s. I must have played this game though 3 to four times, but sadly as with most computer games when you upgrade the computer, the older games just cannot run on newer windows. I remember sitting at my computers tower as the cd rom started to fail on it, opening and closing it begging it to run the game, i was that addicted to it. I can also admit here that to this day i still check the rumor mill for one of two things, one sierra is teaming out with one of the big three consoles so we can play there old games there, and two, to see is a continuation of this game, It did sort of end of a cliff hanger.

11:https://i0.wp.com/pics.mobygames.com/images/covers/large/1308472064-00.jpg   https://i0.wp.com/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/bb/Quest_for_Glory_2_Box_Cover.jpgHero’s Quest 1 and 2: These two games hold a very special place in my heart. These two were my first intro into the gaming world. At the tender age of 7 my father brought home our very first home computer, a Tandy and Hero’s Quest was the very first game we all played together. My dad would be at the controls as my brother and I would sit next to him on either side as the three of us played this game together. To this very day it is a cherished memory, my father (who is still very much alive.) is the very reason i am a gamer today.  While i would go on to play the first game on my own and beat it on my own years later (the second on i could not due to a virus on the game disc) it is those Precious first memories of this new fantastic gaming world, were good would win over evil, and that family is always at your side.

As you can see most of the first five are here due to nostalgia the next ones are more current choices:

10: https://i0.wp.com/www.pocketgamer.co.uk/artwork/na-yxhpd/tetris-logo.jpg Tetris: My first exposure to this game actually game with that tandy, it however was not called tetris it was called weltris and there was a password needed to play the game. Over the years however this game has found itself on my various devises, my ds, my cell phone. I have seen the dark side of level 20 and have gone past it, i think my highest level is 30. There really is no really beating of this game you just continue until you die, which is why its not high on my list. However it is continue replay value makes it an easy mark for my top ten.

9:  https://i0.wp.com/weeklygeekshow.com/images/xblaworms.jpgWorms: I was going to put Golden Sun on this list but after realizing i have all three and only really beaten One of the games i had no choice but to eliminate it from the list. Worms is a game i have a lot of fond memories of. My brother and I continually rented it from the local blockbuster/Hollywood video. We spent many an afternoon with that game naming characters drilling holes in the side then blowing the crap out of each others worms. I am generally not fond of today’s modern shooters but give me a banana bomb and i know i am in for some fun. I haven’t enjoyed many of the modern titles maybe because for me the enjoyment came out the time i spent play with my brother in this game.

8: https://i0.wp.com/www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/286587-twisted-metal-2-playstation-screenshot-main-menus.pngTwisted Metal (series): This is another game i spent a lot of time with my brother with. He borrowed Twisted metal 2, and together we would spend hours playing this game. Admittedly i would cheat, i would love (and Still do) to throw on the god code in the game. (unlimited weapons and invulnerability to almost everything but falling) We would go on to play and own all but the most recent title. It would be because of this game i would buy a ps2 for my dorm room in college when me and my brother went to separate sides of the state.  Its a little sad too  I would enjoy probably the new game for the ps3 i just cannot justify the cost of spending 3-400 dollars on a system for two games. not after the 3ds debacle.  I am waiting patiently for the ps4 to come out and the ps3’s price to drop to $99 before i buy it.  For me at least my favorite titles in this series are, TM2, TM black, TM Heads on, TM4, TM 1, TM3 and the worst title of the whole group is small brawl…yeah um lets pretend that one doesn’t exist, i am sure they want to.

7: https://i0.wp.com/images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110410161529/finalfantasy/images/c/c2/FFIVnds_logo.jpg Final Fantasy (Series): When I first came across Final fantasy at the game store, it was already up to 9 possibly 10. I was reluctant to play it at first because i believed at the time that it was a continuation of each game, so given the series was already at 9 i thought i would be quite lost. My friend at the time (soon to be boyfriend…then ex ass hole) corrected the assumption and encouraged me to play Final Fantasy VII. This game floored me from the first half hour. The story was amazing, the graphics or average for that time, and the music was just ear catching. I did however know about Aerith before her death. i had gotten in a fight with my boyfriend at the time, i had told him who died in the latest Harry Potter book, so he told me Aerith dies. I remember being annoyed because i had spent a lot of time with her leveling her. (second play though with game i focused on Tifa.) I also grew to hate the character after getting stuck in the scene were Sephiroth kills her over and over again. After complementing 7, I quickly went on to 8 then 10. I did make an attempt at 9 i really did, however the copy game stop had was a broken copy and it would not let me play it. The final fantasy i have played is 7, 8, 10, 10-2, 12, 12-2, and 4 (remastered version for ds.) I own most of the sound tracks for these games as well. If i was to rank them, my favorite one out of the series i have played, 4 is hands down my favorite. then to me 12, 7, 10, 10-2, 8, then 12-2. So why is this game series not higher on the list. two reasons, One i have not played all in the series, 5 6 and 9 most notably. I do have 3 but have never gotten though it the lack of phoenix downs is a big deterrent. two Like Twisted Metal its latest releases have been newer systems i simply cannot afford. I would love to play 13 but i cannot buy a new system each time they want to release a new game, not when i can use that money for other things. I guess that is one of the sad things of being an adult is making adult choices like that one. Sorry Final Fantasy i love ya…i just cannot afford ya.

It is a game i can go back to repeatability and when the game is over it leaves me wanting more. For the DS and now i am seeing it available on other handhelds its just a simple game with a simple story that leaves me wanting more. I have enjoyed all entries so far to this game and hope to see more.

5:https://i0.wp.com/pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/object/142/14245996/Glory-Of-Heracles_US_ESRB.jpg  Glory Of Heracles: This game caught my ear before it caught my attention. I was in the store looking for a new game to play when its opening titles started to play, and i fell instantly in love with it. I picked up the game and i was pleasantly surprised by both the characters and the adventure that awaited me. To be one of the few games on this list that is not part of a series its has to be something special, and this one to me was. It you have ever watched a good movie, played a good game, or read a good book, there is that moment after the game ends that you have to sit quietly for a moment and think about the story that just unraveled around you. You have to slowly bring yourself out of that world and back into reality. It also should leave you wanting just a little more to the story, and this game gave me that quiet moment. I have played this game over and over the years i have searched for news of a sequel only to find none. If you have never played this game I highly suggest it.

4: https://i0.wp.com/revengeofthefilmnerds.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/lotro-logo.jpg Lord Of the Rings online: i cannot have a top ten without including a game that has had a major impact of my life for almost 3 years now. I talked briefly about it in my previous post, but let me go into more details. I Started seeking out an MMoRPG shortly after my departure from the 3ds. I was feeling isolated and a little alone, so i was seeking a place i could meet new people and interact with in the confounds of a game. After a few trial and errors i found a server and a kin to join. I guess its in my very nature to interact people, and i very quickly rose though the ranks of that kin, eventually taking on the task of guiding the kin all together. Then with some trouble with in that kin, just could not be stopped. So I along with several others split off and formed our own kin Phoenix Rising, which has been together for 2 years now. I have gotten the online family i was seeking and the adventure i wanted to go on. I am on this game every night, and with multiple festivals, faires and combat event there is always something to do. However due to its lack of portability and being a slave to the games servers (if they go down i have nothing to do until it comes back) it makes this game just miss out on the top three.

3: https://i0.wp.com/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/54/Digimon_World_DS_Coverart.jpg Digimon World (Series): I have been playing different Versions of Digimon world since it first came out on the PS1. I watched this game change how it was played each series, but they really seemed to hit is stride when it came to the ds. I should preference the next statements with this. While I like pokèmon the game, the series on TV I didn’t like quite as much as I liked Digimon. i found Digimon’s story on tv to be written out smarter and more engaging then that of Pokèmon’s. So to find Pokèmon was in fact the better games was a little sad, but Digimon for the ds i think taking some cues from Pokèmon became a smarter and more engaging game. In fact in recent months i have been trying to track my games back down to play again. (i stupidly sold it off for the 3ds (Kicks old 3ds again)) Digimon is a series i love and would buy and play again in a heart beat.

2:https://i0.wp.com/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7b/Professor_Layton_and_the_Unwound_Future.png  Professor Layton (Series): This game took what i loved about Puzzle Quest and quadrupled it. with challenging Puzzles and often very engaging story this series has everything i could ask for. As you can probably tell by the picture Unwound future is my favorite entry into this series (i have not gotten the newest 3ds version due to me only recently picking the 3ds back up) The story of a lost love, and the eventual departure of Luke it just tugged at my heart string, and yes it made me cry.  I did get a little annoyed with them taking a step back instead of going forward with the games time line. Its that annoyance with them going backwards instead of forward that keeps this game from my number 1 Slot.

This was one of the first real series i played on my ds i picked it up on a whim. I knew no one who played it before, there was not really a lot of hype that i could see at least surrounding it. Picking it up has been one of the best game decisions of my life, this games story is engaging. there characters for the most part lovable. (although there are a couple of witnesses i wanna slap.) When I was browsing recently though the Nintendo eShop and there was a preview for a US Release of Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton, i just about shit myself i was so excited. I have loved every title in this series  has released and look forward the future titles as well. Ace Attorney to me is the perfect blend of Puzzles, story and likable characters. This is why the Ace Attorney will always be my number one pick.

So there you have it, my top 15 favorite non pokèmon games. I hope you enjoyed my list, if you have any suggestions for future posts please feel free to comments down below or fill out the contact form and send me a note.

Next time…i am not sure yet.
